There is this moment which cannot be located in time; it is called the present moment. Henry David Thoreau said; “The meeting of two eternities, the past and the future is precisely the present moment”. All forms of non-forgiveness are caused by too much past and all form of fears are caused by too much future, and not enough presence.
These few words of wisdom are probably where His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello was thinking from when he advised his entire cabinet on the 11th day of March 2018. The advice is crucial at this point because if heeded, has mobilizing effect on the government but unfortunately, the Director General Protocol, who was among the first people to post the advice on his facebook wall is one of the major appointee who actually need the advice as he is guilty of almost all.
The Governor advised his appointee not to claim VIP by denigrating other people’s personality, but Pharm. Asuku practice this misguided attitude to the highest level.
What kind of a leader will chase his subordinates from discussing way forward with him? What kind of a leader will instead of increasing followership by his calm and open attitude be reducing followership for the government he represents by all kind of childish attitudes? Indeed we recommend a leadership course for him as the position caught him unaware because it is evident that he never prepared his mind for such position at this stage of his life.
We feel we have needlessly been subjected to a ‘systematic campaign’ of harassment, due to Pharm Asuku omissions to take reasonable steps and or implement any preventive or protective measures to ensure a working environment that is almost free from harassment.
Having said all of the above, it’s expedient to narrate the inhuman behavior that the subject in question exhibited towards us. We requested for a meeting to discuss leadership with him and he booked an appointment with us on the 24th January 2018. Some of our members traveled all the way down to kogi state on that today hoping to be part of the meeting only for Asuku to postpone it till the next day and we slept over in a hotel. On the next day, we called him and he cleared us in, we sat in the reception from morning till 4pm only for him to order one of the security men to chase us out that he is not ready to meet anyone. It then bits my imagination; can any sane person actually behave this way? Can this just be as a result of simple oversight or rather an intentional effort to massage his ego? Why not just come out to apologize and perhaps reschedule instead embarrassing us and even the elderly men that were sitting to meet with him also. Well, my colleague response was perfect as he said there is nothing to be surprised about because only a sophisticated person will behave civil not “I don arrive” kind of people.
Perchance, we would not find ourselves in such position to be oppressed and intimidated by Pharm. Asuku, maybe he thought by his mentality that everyone is coming for the peanuts he share to people to massage his ego. We can no longer tolerate the palpable risk of harm Asuku’s unwanted conduct might cause to the present administration. I personally find his conduct to be politically injurious, undignified, abhorrent, embarrassing and degrading.
We are advising him to heed to His Excellency’s advice and be of good conduct at all times because a good politician and leader always try to increase followership rather that acting otherwise.
A word is enough for the wise.
