Member representing Ankpa II constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Rabiu Momoh Alfa, has admonished students to live in peace and harmony.
Speaking at the maiden edition of the Alfa Momoh Rabiu Annual Essay Prize Giving and Lecture organized by Kogi Youths Orientation Alliance, in Ankpa on Saturday, the lawmaker said building a society free of vices requires perseverance and sacrifice.
Rabiu, who is the Chairman House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, explained that over the years, education has been one of the few panaceas to underdevelopment and an important tool to consider while journeying to sustainable development.
“We may not know if we have a standard education that qualifies our students to compete among their peers. Our activities on and off the cyberspace have indicated that we are a strong pillar of education in our neighborhood, this is easily confirmed via the visible educational projects we have executed on the soil of Ankpa II, such as the construction of library and laboratory, renovation of administrative blocks, and distribution of educational materials at GSS Enabo, and Community Grammar School, Ojoku respectively.
“The maiden edition of the prize and giving a lecture is a manifestation that despite living in a questionable society, they’re people who still see and appreciate the youths who have singled out themselves to doing right at all cost.
“We have made our political movement an institution and we’re proud to say our programs and intervention have awarded a scholarship to students at all levels of education, and this is why an NGO domiciled in Kogi State and other parts of Nigeria found us worthy of organizing this essay competition in our name.
“As you are participating in this maiden voyage with us, we are convinced you have accepted to be part of us and we’re assuring you that subsequent ones will outlive this year.
“All the students who have participated in this competition are the best among their peers, they have displayed intellectual prowess, they’ve made their parents, the society proud, and all of them are winners.
“Because we believe we can achieve greatness in unison, we have made ourselves accessible to those who believe in the power of unity. We have set our standard and it’s simply the people’s standard.
“Despite that the year 2021 is challenging, we can count our blessings and we wish to meet the year 2022 hale and hearty with plenty opportunities as we journey out of 2021,″ he said.
He commended Governor Yahaya Bello whose intervention has standardized education in Kogi State, the organizers of this event, the ambassadors of education, and everyone whose actions contributed to the development of education in our state.
Similarly, he applauded the people of Ankpa, particularly Enjema and Ojoku, for their constant support and tolerance.
“We know you never get tired of us and we are assuring you that we will keep making you proud at all costs, we shall use our remaining days in office as Ankpa II representatives to initiate more beneficial programs.”
