The Coalition for Democratic Advancement in Nigeria (CDAN) has warned politicians and their supporters against violence during the forthcoming primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State.

The primary election was earlier scheduled for September 10 but postponed to Monday, when the party’s candidate for the November 21 state governorship election will emerge.

The coalition, in a statement issued by its executive director, Dr. Chris Omelukpeme, said yesterday that as an independent observer group that monitored the recently conducted PDP congress in the state where three ad-hoc delegates were elected, it was ideal for it to call for a peaceful party primary.

The statement called on security agencies to be at alert to forestall any breakdown of law and order during the primary poll.
