At the resumed hearing on a case filed by Adeyemi Olabode John (applicant) against the 63year old National Youth Leader of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Alh Garba Chiza as the 1st defendant and PDP as the 2nd defendant on the monday 25th march 2013.

The trial judge, Hon Justice Peter Kekemeke after listening to the various counsels has consolidated the preliminary objections of the first and second defendants and fixes may 8th 2013 for ruling on the consolidated preliminary objections of the defendants, the counsel to the applicant Barr Adekunle Otitoju, Esq, prayed the honourable Judge to expedite action on the matter to dispense justice quickly as the case is one that touches the fundamental human right of every Nigerian youth.

The judge while adjourning the matter warn counsels not to be over aggressive or exhibit any kind of misgivings as he will judiciously and sincerely dispense justice in the said matter and told counsels to serve necessary documents ahead of the adjourned date.

In a related development a PDP youth group called PDP National Youth Movement has given the 63 year old national youth leader a 7 day ultimatum to vacate the seat or face the mother of all protest.

In their words, the President and Secretary of the group Dr Sylvanus Okechukwu and Alh. Umar Abdullahi at a press conference in abuja yesterday said they wish to announce a 7 day ultimatum for the national youth leader to quit the office or face a mother of all protest of the entire Nigerian youth.

The youth group described the continued stay in office of Alh Chiza as the highest way of demonstrating culture of impunity and great disregard to the sensibility of the Nigerian youth.

They said that pursuant to article 22.7e of the PDP constitution which pegs the age bracket of a youth member between 18-40 years of age it then becomes morally wrong and constitutionally criminal for a 63 year old man to still continue to hold the office.

They therefore called on the National Chairman of the Party Alh Bamanga Tukur, BOT Chairman Chief Tony Anenih and the Leader of the party, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, GCFR to intervene in the matter to forestall the possibility of the youth of PDP decamping to the newly formed APC.

It will be recalled that one of the aspirant to the office of the PDP national youth leader Comrade Adeyemi Olabode John has approached an Abuja high court seeking among other things an order declaring that the incumbent being above the constitutional required age to immediately vacate the seat and a declarative order declaring him as the national youth leader being the only qualified aspirant by age.

This litigation we gathered has unsettled the political camp of Alh Babangida Aliyu who is believed to be the sole sponsor of the national youth leader.
