Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kogi State have endorsed Senator Ahmed Ogembe as the leader of the party in Kogi central senatorial district.
The decision was reached as leaders and members of the PDP in the central senatorial district held a crucial stakeholders meeting at the famous Dabras Hotels, Okene.
The meeting was convened by the leader of the PDP in the zone, His Excellency Chief Patrick Adaba Mni, former Deputy Governor of Kogi state.
It has in attendance top party stalwarts led by no less a person than Eng Samuel Uhuotu, the state PDP chairman as well as other members of the state executive committee of the party.
Also in attendance were other party big wigs like Alh AO Salami, Alh Al Hassan, Am Usman Bello, Amb Akanson, Alh Obeitor, Alh Yahya Abubakar Karaku, Alh Sule Aliu, Alh Idris King, Alh Mohammed Omuya, Alh Adelabu, Mallam Umar Adoziogu Lawal among many others.
Speaker after speaker restated their resolve to remain in PDP and rebuild it for future elections. The high point of the meeting was when the duo of Distinguished Senator Ahmed Salau Ogembe, Senator representing Kogi central senatorial district and Hon Ahmed Tijani Yussuf Damisa MHR Okene/Ogori/Magongo walked in and was greeted by a large crowed of supporters and party faithfuls. The atmosphere was charged as both members of NASS were given a rousing welcome and warm reception.
Ogembe and Damisa thanked the party stalwarts for their support in the last re-run elections that saw them victorious. The pledged absolute commitment to service and excellent representation. The Leaders of the Party led by Chief Patrick Adaba unanimously declared Sen Ahmed Salau Ogembe and Hon Ahmed Tijani Yussuf Damisa as the leaders of PDP in the central senatorial district.
This change of baton of leadership from the older generation to the much younger generation was praised by all stakeholders present. The meeting also resolved to put aside party differences and pledged their support and co-operation to His Excellency Alh Yahya Bello, the executive Governor of Kogi to move the state forward.
Stakeholders also resolved to remain in PDP and reposition the party for future elections.
