As the governorship election in Kogi State draws nearer, a chieftain of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the state, Hamza Sheriff Aliyu, has said that the internal rancour in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is a plus for his party, whose membership recently got a boost by the defection of former governor, Prince Abubakar Audu. Aliyu who disclosed this to reporters on Tuesday in Lokoja said ACN is of the view that the rancour in PDP will not end and that it will pave way for ACN to sweep the December polls.

He said the rate at which people are decamping from other parties to ACN was testimony that ACN is the party to beat in the state, stressing that the party is working very hard to achieve victory. He posited that the ACN is already working towards local government election in the state, noting that the party expects the state electoral commission to come out with time table for the elections so that campaigns will commence in earnest.

He appealed to ACN supporters in the state to maintain peace ahead of the forthcoming elections.
