Only few commissioners will withstand the upcoming cabinet reshuffle and keep their seats in Kogi State.
The cabinet reshuffle is expected to also sweep away several Special Advisers. While some commissioners would be shown the way out, others will swap positions.
A source who spoke with The Nigeria Post, said the reshufflement is aimed at adding bite into the Wada administration.
The source said the expected Supreme Court judgement to determine who is the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the December, 2011 governorship election is said to be the reason for the silence on performance of commissioners and other appointees by Captain Wada.
Captain Wada, our source maintained had on several occasions said several of the commissioners were foisted on him, this many believe is reason for their double loyalty and poor performance, thus, await the outcome of the Supreme Court before he allows the hammer falls.
The new commissioners, our source disclosed, would be politicians that will serve the tenure with Capt Wada till January 2006 and would be people that have the political clout to deliver their constituencies. It would be recalled that the governor had repeatedly rebuffed overtures to contest in 2016.
The governor’s investigation shows that except for few of his commissioners, majority do not have political acceptability in their areas. A story was told him of a commissioner from Yagba Federal Constituency who has never called for a meeting of the party since he was appointed. His other worst sin includes that he is tight fisted, a characteristics that has negated the growth of the party in his area. This, the governor gathered is applicable in most areas that produced the other commissioners.
Our source disclosed that the issue of who would be dropped is beyond Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, the immediate past governor who nominated several of the commissioners. “What is most important is that Capt Wada has made up his mind to make changes not only at the level of the commissioners, but along all strata of his administration, including Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants even his close friends. Obviously, his old school mates he discovered are a minus in their contributions to his administration”, the source said.
Similarly, there is panic in the state over the expected Supreme Court ruling among loyalists of the winner of the January 2011 PDP primaries, Alhaji Jibrin Isah (Echocho). These loyalists who are Wada’s appointees have been panic-stricken since the news broke of plans for a shake up, investigations revealed. Some of those appointed who have their hearts with All Progressives Congress (APC) are likely to be shown the way out of government, as they have remained perpetually loyal to the cause of Echocho.
