On August 7, 2025, I joined other concerned citizens to make a public plea (Read – https://kogireports.com/a-plea-for-solar-powered-street-lights-in-ozi-community-kogi-kogi-lga)) for solar-powered street lights in Ozi community. Barely hours later, at about 12:30AM, our representative, Hon. Danladi Suleiman Aguye, personally assured an indigene of the community in his own words:
“You don’t need to appeal, I can assure you that insha’Allah by next month, if Allah spares our life, I’ll bring the solar street light to Ozi.”
The above statement raised the hopes of an entire community.
Today, 47 days later, Ozi remains in darkness. The solar lights have not come. Reminders sent have gone unanswered. And the people who placed their trust in that promise are left with nothing but silence.
This is deeply worrisome, and it goes beyond politics or image-gaslighting. When a promise is made openly, as in this case, it binds the leader to the people’s expectations. It is about integrity in leadership. A promise made is a debt owed to the people and failure to honor it erodes trust not just in the individual, but in the very office he represents.
Ozi has always been consistent in its loyalty as previously attested to, delivering overwhelming support to our great party, the APC. To leave such a community neglected is not just unfair, it is troubling.
It is not tidy to continue the cycle of “promise and fail.” The people deserve leaders whose words carry weight, whose commitments are kept.
Hon. Danladi Aguye should remember that history records actions, not intentions. The true measure of leadership is not in promises but in keeping them.
Ozi is waiting. Ozi deserves better. Fulfill your promise. Your words are your bond!
This is not confrontation; it is a passionate appeal.
