A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi West, Otunba Adeniyi Olayemi has described the death of Professor Matthew Ajibero as a monumental loss.
In a statement issued in Kabba on Wednesday, Adeniyi, popularly known as ‘So Mi Edumare’, said the devastating news of the demise of Ajibero will create a vacuum that will be difficult to fill in the western axis of the state.
Describing the late scholar as one of the finest, illustrious sons of Kabba (Owe) and Okun land, SoMi Edumare said Ajibero was a major pillar that made PDP a colourful and highly successful party in Kogi West.
So Mi Edumare, a 2023 Kogi West senatorial aspirant, described Professor Matthew Idowu Ajibero as an elder statesman who turned around the fortune of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, during his eight-year service as rector of the institution.
“Prof. Matthew Ajibero was an administrator par excellence who served two terms meritoriously as the Rector of the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja. Before then, he was Chief Librarian of the University of Ilorin.
“His death came as a shocking news to me and others that know him so well. He was a gentleman whose love for God, humanity and his community was unwaivering.
“Prof Ajibero will remembered for his good works, humble approach to issues and exceptional vision of a better society,” he said.
Otunba Adeniyi enjoined the PDP family in Kogi West to take solace in the words of God which says for everything under the sun there is time and season; a time to be born and time to die.
He urged the wife and children of the deceased to continue to uphold his legacies of hard work, simplicity, perseverance, truthfulness and honesty, adding that Prof Ajibero’s legacies will forever remain in the minds of Kogi West Senatorial District PDP.
