Dear Esteemed Old Students of OSS,

This is a passionate appeal to every individual who passed through the gates of Okene Secondary School (OSS)—fondly known as Ukpogo University—to look back and give back to the institution that shaped us.

Many of us owe a part of our success stories to the solid academic and moral foundation laid by this great school. If OSS has played any role in your life journey, now is the time to reciprocate the gesture, no matter how small—be it a token, a chair, books, or any learning material that carries your name and presence.

We often lament the decline of the school, but we must now acknowledge that OSS is gradually coming back to life. However, only a few are showing interest in its revival. Is it that the support we showed back then was just for eye service?

We call on those of us in government agencies and strategic positions to leverage our offices to make a meaningful impact. The current school management is doing their best, yet none of them are alumni—and if we, the products of the school, continue to stay silent, it will only discourage their efforts.

We urge the National Exco of OSS Old Students Association to begin planning a fundraising initiative for the rehabilitation of our beloved school.

To those who have already made contributions—may God reward you abundantly. Let every set begin to register their presence on campus. Whether it is desks, chairs, books, or any educational aid, your contribution will be remembered.

Finally, the school urgently needs a bus to transport students from the main town to the school. Let us come together to make this a reality.

Let’s not let OSS die. Let’s bring Ukpogo University back to its glory days.

Signed:

Prince Oyiwe Nuhu
A Concerned Old Student
