As hundreds of indigent students across five Local Government Areas of Kogi Central benefitted from Senator Yakubu Oseni’s educational empowerment scheme, the lawmaker has charged them to be focused on their academic pursuit in order to come out in flying colours.

Senator Oseni gave the charge recently in Okene as he bankrolled the WAEC and JAMB registration fees of orphans and other indigent students candidates across Kogi Central Senatorial District.

The lawmaker through his delegates revealed that the educational empowerment/outreach which began last year would be sustained and inclusive, adding that he will never renege on his campaign promise of human capital development through education.

“The programme is basically meant to alleviate the hardship that our youths always undergo during WAEC and JAMB registration. Also, it is to specially recognise and encourage the orphans and the less privileged with burning desires to seek knowledge through education. I called for their support during my campaign and it is time to honour and support them with this little gesture,” he said.

While charging them to be good ambassadors in their various institutions of learning, Senator Oseni noted that it is only through education that solid foundation could be laid for a brighter future, hence, pledged not to shut his door against anyone who is genuinely seeking assistance for educational pursuit.

Family members of the beneficiaries who described the gesture as unprecedented in the history of Kogi Central Senatorial leadership, affirmed that the zone has so far faired better in the short period of Senator Oseni’s representation at the National Assembly.

It would be recalled that Senator Yakubu Oseni first demonstrated his desire to improve learning in schools across Kogi Central when in 2019 distributed 100 pieces of laptop computers to aid teaching. The lawmaker equally promised that other areas like health outreach, women and youths empowerment will not be left out his programme as the year 2020 unfolds.
