The Director General on Protocol to Kogi state governor, Pharmacist Abdulkareem Asuku recently flagged off an empowerment program on science and technology. The empowerment scheme was established to train about
hundred and fifty youths on various areas of sciences and technology. The contract was awarded to Micro Tech Global Services under the leadership of Muhammad Labeeb on 12 January 2018.

In a recent article that was published on kogireports.com titled  “Don’t Be Misled By Micro Tech”, I stressed on the dire need of careful evaluation of the scheme as some persons were marginalized in an attempt to please families and
friends of Micro Tech’s boss. The steps taken to expose their meandering activities incentivized Micro Tech Global Services to correct their lapses. Few courses made it to the list of courses which funds were released to teach, owing to the disinclination of Muhammad Labeeb to utilize funds for the intended purposes. Oracle and Computer engineering couldn’t make it to the list of courses being offered at present.

Although, corrections were taken but not to our desired satisfaction as well as to the taste of the initiator of this
empowerment scheme.

Row Conway said and I quote; “I believe that all have responsibilities to give back, no one becomes successful without lot of hardw ork, support from others and little luck, giving back create a virtuous cycle that makes everyone successful.”

Pharmacist Asuku has done incredibly well by putting a standstill to the continual roaming of jobless youths on the street by providing better and profit-making alternative. It is very heartless and inhumane if we stand to watch an
individual thwart the efforts of a visionary leader for motive of insatiability on the side of Muhammad Labeeb. This show of magnanimity and investment in science and technology is second to none in the history of Kogi central, not even a democratically elected leader or political appointees have done this ever before.

After the dishonourable hoax played at the beginning of this empowerment programme which is still not completely curtailed, our eyes have been widely opened to ensure quality and effective service is delivered in conformity with the wishes of the initiator.

Members of the Close Watch Media Team constituted a committee that submitted their reports early this week. The committee was saddled with the obligation to oversee any corrupt practices which is capable of hampering the success of this empowerment scheme. In their reports, the beneficiaries of this scheme under the web-design, solar
technology, graphic design as well as general computer studies shows teachers/tutors have given standard lessons within their reach if not beyond. However, Micro Tech Global Services is unwilling to give what is properly due to the instructors.

Aalso in their report, only one centre, at AAAMCO, teaches solar technology engineering while other centres basically focus on general computer studies.

As the graduation and presentation of certificate is nigh, sir we urge you to be exceptional in completion of the good work you started to give rise to self employment in the state, that will go a long way to improve our economy also curb criminality in the land.

Predominantly, politicians have abused the word ’empowerment’, giving out inconsequential amount such as ten thousand naira or fifteen thousand naira which often can be diverted for non profiting ventures because of its less value to skills acquired. Some of these beneficiaries are faced with financial challenges yet they strive against all odds to mobilize themselves to the training centre. If at the end of the stress they underwent, twenty thousand is given to them each to make them financially independent. Let me engage my reader on small mathematical calculation, if transportation fare is exactly ten thousand naira, subtracting it from twenty thousand being empowered with, of what benefit would it be for a web designer, solar technology engineering, hence the purpose is for
beneficiaries to be financially stable? Unquestionably, the skills learnt for three months is a total waste of time and resources. Therefore, the students who take part in this empowerment scheme require reasonable amount to become bosses on their own.

It is true we oftentimes take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude, on this note the teachers and instructors’ efforts should not go without commendation with a project to empower them financially. As an exposition of gratefulness for the successful completion of this empowerment scheme, this should be a continuous
project to solve unemployment and scientific problem in Kogi central and Nigeria as a whole.
