In the past couple of weeks, not minding my the demanding schedule of my desks and family affairs, I took it upon myself to spend enough time on the social media platforms especially Facebook to access and get first hand information of the true position of Kogites about the new direction government of his excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello. This is anchored on the believe that public opinions can be easily tapped and probably Chart a way forward.
In doing this, I hoped for constructive ideas, criticism and suggestions though my mind was made up and resolute to receive any manner of attack, bearing in mind that I am an appointee of the government. At last, to my greatest surprise, oppositions has been taken too far and like the words of Aesop where he said: “after all is said and done, more is said than done”. It beats my imagination how some elderly people whom I hold in very high esteem has degraded beyond words in an attempt to discredit everything about the government of the day.
The truth is, the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello is more concerned about the next generation than the next election and if we would accept the truth deep down in our hearts, the next election is farther than many think. Only God knows who and those that will witness and rule in the next dispensation but today is exactly and whatever we make of it. Politics is only but a game of interest and it’s longevity depends on interest but Kogi shall forever remain.
The idea of personal attacks, hate speeches, defamation of character are not good enough for our common core value systems. We were all kogites even before the creation of the state, we were all with our tongues before politics and these things are divinely arranged. As often as we live and make impacts, be it negative or positive, history is making it’s documentations and in the end of it all, posterity shall treat us tomorrow exactly as we are today.
More than ever before, the new direction government and it’s team is ever committed to delivering true dividends to the people of the state and I call on all asunder to anchor opposition on proposition, project criticism with suggestions and inputs should accompany all condemnations. Grievances against government should be by counsel and the hallmark of our displeasure should above all other things be the general interest of Kogi state.
Finally, I want to profoundly thank all those who have been engaging this government constructively and based on issues. We all owe the state the duty to improve it in whatever capacity that we can as it belongs to all of us. In the end of it all, politics is not a life endeavour but our citizenship shall for ever remain.
God Bless Kogi State!.
Hon. Enema Paul,
Honorable Commissioner For Rural Development
