Here is the unvarnished truth and this truth is the purpose of my post. The cold honest truth is that the state is at the moment direction less and nothing is happening. I’m deeply pained and disturbed whenever I read the online news about our dear beloved and blessed state Kogi. The series of villainous events that have happened in the past two years is disheartening.
As for me, I will never sit on the fence when the battle is to ensure that good governance works in the genuine interest of the people.
2019 is like eternity making reference to where we are coming from. I pen down my thoughts with a broken heart to ease my pains as the act of writing is like my painkiller.
It’s disheartening to see the breakthrough slogan of the masses go from ‘CHANGE to CHAIN’ in just two years. I know this piece will cause me to lose friends increase the level of disaffection of some certain people who feel I am derailing in my support of the current administration; but the truth must be told no matter the size of the audience as lies will never stand the test of time even though the instant impact maybe corrective. How many people selflessly supported the APC campaigns without financial inducements or future promises of personal gains as much as I did? My records speak volume of beliefs and unflinching support for the general will of the people which is the core purpose of the existence of the state.
Lets put our political affiliations aside for once, let’s pull of the garment of sentiments, let’s close our eyes to personal benefits from the current administration, let’s rid our hearts of religious and tribal sentiments that could cloud our sense of judgement.
It’s no longer news in Kogi State that over one million unemployed youths are readily applying for jobs where less than five people are needed. The state is in the verge of revolution which undoubtedly will be triggered by this terrible economic menace called unemployment.
I think he should know the best to do to our education that is in a state of shameless and mess. Amazingly, Fulani herdsmen turned some of the institutions to a grazing ground for their cows. Education is the basis of any strong economy, give us real education that is ICT based. It’s a long term investment.
The resilient workers might get tired of this perseverance someday and go berserk if something is not done quickly to address this time bomb we are all sitting on. Some caters for their families because their parents sold their only wrapper and pairs of shoes to train them with the high hope that someday my son or daughter will come and take me out of this abject poverty but here our hopes is smashed on the wall.
I ask, what happened to the thousands that have gone to study courses that are relevant to leadership?
We have citizens who through self-efforts have actualised in life as big industrialists, entrepreneurs, but cannot come home anymore due to the insecurity in the state occasioned by kidnapping. The state has degenerated to a point where its indigenes run to Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and other places for safety.
I call upon Muslims and Christian all over Kogi State to begin to pray and bombard the heavenly throne again just like the time of Sanni Abacha.
