It is usually very easy for people to reign praises and criticisms on any government in Nigeria especially here in Kogi State. This is because those close to power will do anything to retain relevance while those far from power will do everything to dislodge those in power. But, in-between these two, there is a gap: those who are moving the society forward and those who are destroying the society.
Those who are moving the society forward are those who whether or not charged with public responsibilities, they give in their best to serve for the betterment of the society. Either by prudence or setting constituted authorities on track without compromise or to any recourse. Those who destroys the society are therefore those who whether or not they are close to power, propagates only that which contents their interest without any consideration to a larger number of people.
It is therefore very sad that our people have forgotten thunder doesn’t make plants grow, rather the rainfall. It is not enough to sit in the comfort of your house, corridor of your enterprise or the keyboard of your electronic gadgets to lament government excesses. With due respect to Kogites and the generality of Kogi dwellers. The masses have not done enough to set government on track. Rather, what we have is propagation of discord cum sowing seeds of disunity and of course these developments breach trust and seriousness.
The task of building a great and enviable state is beyond been left to the governor and his cabinet alone. Opposition has a role to play, traditional rulers have functions to perform, the religious institutions are expected to uphold truth and give spiritual guidance where necessary, the professionals are expected to make positive inputs and the list grows as such.
The success and failure rating of this government has its impact directly on kogite and as much as we work to reposition the state among committee of states, Kogites must join us before this will come to reality. Government is a successive duration but state existence is for ever living and never dies. Kogi is on track via the new direction and we must all work in tandem.
God Bless Kogi State!
– Hon Enema Paul
Honorable Commissioner for Rural Development
Kogi State
