The tussle for who will represent Ankpa Federal Constituency among the three local governments that make up Ankpa Federal Constituency – Olamaboro, Ankpa and Omala – has kick started with various aspirants emerging from the three local governments.

Since the return to democracy in 1999, the leadership of this Federal Constituency has been fairly shared among the three local governments. For example, in 1999, it was given to late Alh. Muazu Abimaje, in 1999 – 2003, it was the turn of Olamaboro which produced Hon. Atai Aidoko. In 2003 – 2011, it went to Omala as represented by Mohammed Ibrahim Idris, and 2015-2019, Ankpa local government area presented Hon. Hassan Omale.

I believe in 2019, by God’s grace, it is now the turn of Olamaboro LGA to produce House of Reps Member for equality and fairness. It might interest you to know that in 2003, Omala sacrificed their chance of completing 8 years in the lower chamber due to Alh. Ibrahim Idris’ governorship ambition. He end up spending 9 years in office.

At the moment, Ankpa has four aspirants, Olamaboro with 7 aspirants and Omala boasting of two. If the other local governments fail to show regards or respect for the rotation formula on ground, then we the Olamaborians will have no choice than to canvas for a sole candidate from Olamaboro and it will be someone with capacity to represent us judiciously and effectively at the federal level and not a ‘sit-down look’ member.

It will interest all that the next member that will be representing the good people of Ankpa, Olamaboro and Omala Constituency must be from Olamaboro. This is not negotiable.
