I want to draw the attention of the Inspector General of Police and National Human Rights Commission to the gross abuse of human rights currently on going in Kogi state. Democracy suppose to be the government of the people by the people and to the people and not against the people.

The front line opposition voice in Kogi State and National Coordinator of PDP Youth frontiers in person of Comrade Usman Okai Austin has been arrested today at exactly 1:30 pm on the order of Kogi State Governor in Abuja by SARS. He was trailed to a food joint on Abacha Barrack road where the security forces bundled him into their vehicle.

According to source, when he demanded to make call to his family to inform them he was denied. He, however, was able to quickly send an sms to one of his friends who immediately spread the information on social media.

The operators of this secret operation are called Swift Response Squad. Yahaya Bello once threatened to treat students or whoever went against his government like kidnappers and he is now implementing his threat. We call on President of Nigeria, the IG of Police and APC to caution Bello as the good citizens of the state, precisely, Igala nation will not be forced to take law into their hands.

Yahaya Bello inherited Late Audu votes after the demise of Audu and is expected of him to be magnanimous instead he has turned to a full blown dictator who refused to pay workers salaries and pensions for over 10 months and whoever raises an eyebrow is treated not just as enemy but with death threat and illegal detention.

The offence committed by the Usman Okai Austin was that he made a public criticism of Governor Bello leadership styles. Our own Governor Yahaya Bello must be informed that you cannot run a state like TRANSPORT COMPANY OR MOTOR PARK, this is, Kogi state is not FAIRPLUS MOTOR GARAGE.

Democracy must be respected; democracy must be honored; democracy must be cherished; democracy must be an essential, an integral part of the sovereignty. Democracies, like all forms of government, can result in abuses of political power, this development is dangerous for the state and capable of sparking tribal crisis and ethnic rivalry.

The governor should not be caught championing ethnic cleansing or playing tribal cards, the governor should assume the role of being father of all and grow tall above ethnic or tribal pressure. God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but the Spirit of power and love and self-control (2Tim 1:7).

To this end we call on all kogites, Igala youth council both home and abroad to get ready for a show down should they fail to release Austin within 48 hours!

Enough is enough!

It is abnormal to be normal in an abnormal situation and the ignorance of the oppressed is the strength of the oppressors.
