Dear Kogi Youths,I feel great writing this letter to every Kogi state indigenes who will be reading this. I will appreciate us to share for others to read from this my brief letter.
I think it is right time to write it as we are preparing for 2019 general elections and subsequently, the Governorship Election in 2019 for our dear state.
The Social media space has been filled with a lot of envy, fight and outbreak over one another, since the present government (New Direction Team) start suspending and sacking some of its appointees, and replacing them with new ones, and also compensating some groups, personalities and decampees. I don’t find that as a strange thing, because that’s how politics is being played.
I remember vividly, my first joy in 2016 when Alhaji Yahaya Bello became the governor of Kogi state, was that my state is producing the first youth governor in Nigeria, and he’s going to create a good pathway for other youths in Kogi state and Nigeria to follow.
Unfortunately, the expectations are not met, but we are human being with a lot of shortcomings. This week has been more intense with a lot of suspension letter and sacking letters flying over the social media, which is being carried out by the Honourable Speaker who is the Acting Governor, due to the Deputy Governor’s absence on annual leave.
Youths have been going against one another on the said positions which are available, even those who are not qualified. Nominations have been flying over also. Painfully, many have been rejoicing over the sackings, resignation of fellow Kogites. I am sorry to say this, Pull Him Down Syndrome(PHD) is a bad act which has gotten its way into the major heart of Kogi youths who are in politics. Some have abandoned their career, and even sell their birthright over porridge. It is painful.
Many are also equally engaged in eye services. Like I wrote yesterday, those who engage in eye service are not loyal and will never be. I want us to know that we are brothers, humanity should be first in all dealings. Our dear state has produced a lot of bright top people who are occupying top positions in Nigeria, in all sectors, and even in diaspora. That has even be my thought, that maybe what our youths should be thinking is how to replicate those success and shone above them, and not fighting one another of positions in government.
Our utmost goal should be how can we build a great state, and see it develop and contribute to the government success and not to bring the state down, or paint it black. We should remember that, we are the image maker of the state in anywhere we find ourselves.
Let’s make our state proud, and go into entrepreneurship, education, corporate sector and many more. I believe we can do more and better, we are the future of our state, we should be creative and not allow any egoistic filled leaders who doesn’t care about us or doesn’t have our plans in mind take over us.
I even expected the current government to roll out different entrepreneurship training to our youths and make it more intense. But unfortunately, reverse is the case. There is a lot to be done in education sector, ICT, Agriculture and others.
With Agriculture,a lot can be achieved. There’s a lot of value chain and job creation, not necessary being a farmer.
Let me end my letter with this quote: “build yourself in a niche you are good at, develop yourself, and see offers fill your table.”
My fellow youths let us take the bull by the horn, let vote the right people and let your No be a No and Yes be a Yes. Remember, everything you do today will be accounted for tomorrow as your life time. If you are a professional in what you do, you can as well occupy political positions in another state.
Live well, Do well and Be good. Loyalty is non-negotiable.
