With heart filled with grief and displeasure over the lingering strike I pen these short lines…..
The dishearten nature of the battle between State Government and ASUU, KSU chapter has thrown the students into absolute confusion over the lingering strike.
I am neither accusing nor blaming the actions and the inactions of the parties involve. It is deemed tardy already but I am rather appealing if that is the only option am left with as a bona fide student of institution.
I do understand the current happenings in the state but this is a state where education need to be of higher preference, a state where potentials need to be nurtured and fine-tuned but how can that be achieved where there is prolonged and steady distortion of academic calendar per se? What else can we boast of when our academic system is weak and over diluted ?
Personally, I gave so much grandness to the current government when the governor assumed office being the fact that he is a professional accountant, a profession tagged with integrity, accuracy, professional competence and objectivity as its hallmark. I so much believed he has the technical and proficient skills to move the state forward especially the educational sector, but currently, I am still hoping and as well praying for the betterment of the state.
I therefore plead with the state government to offer feasible solution to the lingering strike by meeting ASUU’s demands or ensure amicable negotiation with our lecturers (ASUU) with the best of its capacity.

I do understand the agitation of our dear lecturers, their demands and intents. I am also aware of their struggles to ensure the credibility of the institution. It is indeed something worth fighting for and I am not obliged to put any blame on them but I am pleading immensely on behalf of my fellow students for ASUU to succour just as JAC did in order to earn the goodwill.
Currently, we students don’t expect any prolong negotiation between the two parties involved to solve their differences as we have wasted much more than we ever imagined which had impacted and still impacting negatively on our welfare.
I therefore call on the parties indulgence to ensure quick resolution for the sake of the students.
From a concerned student.
