OPEN LETTER TO GOVERNOR IDRIS WADA OF KOGI STATE.
Your Excellency,
Capt. Idris Wada,
Executive Governor of Kogi State,
Government House,
Lokoja,
Kogi State.
Your Excellency,
Permit me to make this an open letter as I write on behalf of the Kogi State Students April Batch 2014/2015 session of the Nigerian Law School.
1. I want to commend your administration for its contribution towards the development of the educational sector in the state.
2. Having said that, I want to draw your attention to the unpaid approved bursary for the April Batch 2014/2015 Kogi State Nigerian Law School Students, the session commenced on the 28 day of May 2014. The students through the students affairs department of the Nigerian Law School head quarters Bwari, Abuja sent a comprehensive list of Kogi State students coupled with an application for bursary to your office through the state Ministry of Justice and State Scholarship Board. Your Excellency graciously approved the application in January 2015 and the said approval is presently in the office of the Accountant General.
3. Several efforts have been made by the students through representatives from all the six campuses of the Nigerian Law School to meet with the state Accountant General, the Attorney General and a courtesy letter requesting an audience in your office all proved abortive which necessitated this open letter.
4. I wish to bring it to your attention, Your Excellency, that it is six months after you gave approval for the bursary which has not yet been paid, causing the students to go through a lot of hardship.
5. I sincerely plead with Your Excellency to come to the aid of the students by ordering speedy payment of the bursary to ameliorate our plight and as it would help a lot in preparation for call to bar of the aspirants.
6. I believe strongly in your administration and I want to state clearly that this open letter is not engineered to tarnish the image of Your Excellency or that of your administration; it is borne out of concern and freedom of speech as a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
7. Your Excellency sir, I will be expecting your open reply to my letter.
Yours in nation building,
Taiye James Alabi
