Dear Barr. Zacchaeus Dare Michael, disassociates yourself from the evil ones, uphold your value, integrity and respect as a legal practitioner. No solicitor trade with injustice. It’s against their profession and the oath.

History has it that whenever Kabba district is due for the chairman of Kabba/Bunu LGA, the positions of the vice chairman and the secretary to the local government is zoned to Bunu district.

From the sole administrator, caretaker chairman and substantial chairman, e.g;

KABBA District (Chairman)

  1. Alhaji Kabiru Fadile as a caretaker chairman had his secretary in Bunu district from Apaa Bunu in Okebukun Ward (Late Samuel Omosayin)
  2. Hon (Late) Joseph Dada as a chairman had his vice chairman in Iluke Bunu from Iluke Ward (Hon Ayo Yakubu) while his secretary in Bunu district from Aiyegunle Igun in Okebukun Ward (Hon (Olori) Agnes Ikusemoro)
  3. Hon Funsho Olorunfemi as a chairman had his vice chairman from Suku Bunu in Akutupa Kiri Ward (Hon Obanibi) while his secretary in Bunu district from Okeoffin Bunu in Olle/Okeoffin ward (Hon (Pastor) Lawrence Obayomi)

BUNU district (Chairman)

  1. Vice chairman and secretary under Hon Nathaniel Taiwo didn’t come from the same ward in Kabba district.
  2. Hon Moses Olorunleke had his vice chairman from Asuta ward (Hon Mrs. Alfred Bimpe) while his secretary from Otu Ward (Hon Raymond Olowosaye)

I’m too sure that during Hon Late Olorunnipa and Hon Hezekiah Obafemi tenure, nobody among them had his vice chairman and secretary in the same ward.

Zacchaeus, don’t act in exemption of good history. Follow the footsteps of your predecessors and uphold your sanity as a legal practitioner that believes in equity, fairness and justice.

From both districts (Kabba and Bunu) no chairman had his vice chairman and secretary in the same ward since the creation of the local government area.

Sir, even if you can’t do anything for Bunu district in terms of developments in the area, please, don’t divide us. The peaceful coexistence we’re enjoying now shouldn’t be interrupted by an irrational decision that will bring disunity and hatred among Bunu people.

Sir, I strongly believe that as a well cultured individual and a discipline trained lawyer you should follow the path of equity, fairness and justice.

From the creation of our dear local government area, no leader or group of persons has ever thought of having two major positions in one ward. Hence, your coming shouldn’t begin on bad precedent.

Bunu district in Kabba/Bunu LGA has 6 wards and those wards are grouped into 3 zones;

  1. Bunu South (Okebukun and Odo-Ape Wards)
  2. Bunu Central (Iluke and Olle/Okeoffin Wards
  3. Bunu North (Akutupa Kiri and Ayetoro Kiri Wards)

Zacchaeus, don’t divide us. Let’s unity, peace and progress strive more in Bunu district.

Both elective and appointment into various offices in the local government area are being rotated within the 6 wards in Bunu district.

Therefore, Bunu North has the Vice Chairperson already which is given to Akutupa Kiri ward. So, any major appointments should go to other zones.

All the regimes of our previous leaders in Kabba/Bunu LGA in the likes of Akefe, Fanodun, Arch Stephen Olorunfemi, Kabiru Fadile, Joseph Dada, Engr Bello, Nathaniel Taiwo, Funsho Olorunfemi and Moses Olorunleke ensure they maintained and sustained our unity in the distribution of various appointments to all wards in Kabba/Bunu LGA.

Sir, it’ll be an act of irresponsibility, wickedness and insensitivity if you choose to do otherwise. You’re not the first to be the chairman and will never be the last, but, if bringing disunity and enmity to Bunu district is what gladdens your heart be rest assured that your children and the next generations will remember you as a man that chooses to be different in promoting hatred among his people.

Conclusively, even the Holy Book says a good name is better than riches. Zacchaeus, pray that your good name continues and don’t make yourself available for the devil to use to tarnish your integrity and faith.

– Jacob Adeniyi
A corncerned Bunu indigene.
