The Director General on Media and Publicity to the Governor of Kogi State has carpeted those condemning the Vigilante operations in the state, saying government will continue to sustain efforts at securing the people of the state.
He said the primary function of government is to ensure security of lives and property.
“I read with disappointment, allegations that government is arming officers of the Vigilante group for political reasons.
“The vituperation of those opposed to the establishment of Vigilante group to combat insecurity are merely showing the effectiveness of the group. These are politicians who have been celebrating insecurity in the state while we were rejigging the security architecture of the state.
“We are winning the war against insecurity and the heat is getting on their sponsors and those who wish Kogi will remain unsecured for them to use as political capital.
“It is unfortunate that some leaders prefer an unsafe Kogi in order to discredit government. The people know Government is working hard to secure them. We owe the people security of their lives and properties anywhere in the state. The days ahead will further stress out resolve against criminalities.
“The Kogi State Vigilante Service was established to protect lives and property. Only criminals and their sponsors will be afraid of a secured Kogi State. Government will ensure safety of all Kogites”.
Fanwo said Governor Yahaya Bello has a duty to protect all Kogites, irrespective of political affiliations.
According to him, “Governor Yahaya Bello is the leader of all Kogites irrespective of ethnic or political affiliations. He owes all Kogites a duty of protection. He is accountable to the people and not a few who are daily losing their grounds”.
