A Lagos-based online news platform, thegazellenews.com, has reported that a prominent Kogi State cleric and political activist, Stanley Omoniyi Ajileye, may be on the verge of dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to the Lagos online publication, Ajileye, who is the immediate past spokesperson of the PDP in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, has been a key player in the party’s media machinery for years, serving on both gubernatorial and presidential media campaign teams since the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The report noted that although Ajileye is yet to make an official declaration, political signals from his recent engagements suggest that a major realignment may be imminent. The Ekinrin-Adde–born clergy, described as an intelligent writer and seasoned wordsmith, has in recent months adopted positions that resonate more with the APC’s political outlook.

The Lagos publication highlighted Ajileye’s public calls on Honourable James Abiodun Faleke to consider contesting the Kogi governorship, which he believes would help “liberate Kogi West from years of political servitude.” It also referenced his recent appeals to Nigerians to allow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu seek re-election in 2027, citing the President’s firm approach to tackling insurgency and insecurity.

Impeccable sources quoted by the online medium disclosed that Ajileye has been in discussions with PDP leaders, during which he reportedly expressed frustration with the party’s dwindling fortunes. He was said to have remarked that he would not be comfortable remaining “an undertaker leading the PDP to the cemetery,” while carefully withholding information about his next political platform.

The publication further stated that if Ajileye eventually joins the APC, it would align with his recent political posture and public interventions. Political associates quoted in the report described him as bold, consistent and dependable, noting that his eventual decision could reshape political conversations within Kogi West and the state at large.

As of the time of filing the report, Ajileye had not formally announced his next move, leaving political observers to closely watch developments in the coming days.
