Dr Omede Idris, the Deputy Governorship candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2023 elections, has called on government and security operatives to be proactive in their approach to the recurrent tragic and mind-blowing security breaches affecting human and materials in Omala local government area of the state.

Two days ago, unknown terrorists attacked Agojeju Odo and other communities in Omala LGA, leaving no less than 19 persons dead.

In a statement on Saturday, Dr Omede lamented that the wanton loss of lives and property is agonizing and depressing.

He added that the frequency and recurrence is alarming. He said a new and more advanced approach must be genuinely instituted and deployed to stop or minimize this menace.

“The entire Omala LGA needs constant surveillance and enough honest informants to work closely with the security operatives. No amount spent by government would be too much to secure the lives of her citizens and also for basic capital investment for the people.

“The state government involvement, more active participation and engagement, could serve as an elixir for better and more peaceful environment.” he said.

Dr Omede Idris, a former Commissioner of Health in the state and former President of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), also called on Inspector General of Police and other government security forces along with local security to be more proactive, responsive and make rapid assess of trouble areas through timely mobilization and logistic support in conjunction with the state government.

“As we grief over the human and materials losses, may the families that have suffered huge losses be strong and be consoled by God, while government provides succor and relief to them and the community, in addition to appropriate infrastructure that will stem the tide of the invaders and attackers. These required combined efforts of the state and federal government and their appropriate department and agencies.

“Deliberate efforts must be done by the state government, supported by the various communities to stop this regular attack on communities in Omala LGA, and also to ensure that this does not spread and become a regular occurrence in other LGAs in the state.”
