The paramount ruler of Bunuland, HRH Oba J.A. Ikusemoro has pledged the support of the Kogi people to the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello.
Speaking while receiving the Principal Private Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Mr. Abel Obafemi in his palace at Olle Bunu, Oba Ikusemoro thanked the Governor for appointing credible Bunu people into sensitive positions in his government.
Earlier, one of the leaders of the party, Chief Asaje thanked the royal father for receiving the government delegation.
Mr. Abel Obafemi told the royal father that it was due to the commitment of the Governor to development that made him approve the grading of the Ayede Bunu-Igori road to make it motorable, assuring the Bunu people of the readiness of the Yahaya Bello administration to take development to every part of the state.
In his comments, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Kingsley Fanwo salutes the traditional ruler for his dynamic 55-year reign on the throne which has brought unprecedented development to Bunuland.
Mr. Fanwo urged traditional rulers to keep supporting the reforms in the civil service sector in order to save funds for rural development. He assured the people of Bunu that Governor Yahaya Bello will ensure every community in the state benefits from the New Direction initiative of government.
While reacting, Oba Ikusemoro thanked the Governor for the respect accorded him. He called for more dialogue between the government and traditional rulers in the state.
His words: “I have known Abel Obafemi since childhood and I want to say emphatically here that the Governor has made the right choice and that Bunu will support his administration.
“Help us relate our message to the Governor too that we want improved welfare. We want the concerned authorities to pay our entitlements regularly to enable us play our part in ensuring communal peace and development.
“I have worked with many governors. I am knowledgeable enough to know that I have to be loyal to the government in power. Governor Yahaya Bello was anointed by God and anyone who contends with him is contending with God. Let the Governor know that we are solidly behind him”.
Also, the royal father called on the Governor to help look into the roads in Bunu and the need to make laws that will protect the roads against abuse by truck drivers.
The delegation was also well received by a tumultuous crowd at Igori Bunu with hundreds of Peoples Democratic Party members defecting to the All Progressives Congress.
