A former Managing Director of Kogi Agricultural Development Project (ADP), Mr. Oyisi Okatahi, has expressed optimism that the reported discovery of crude oil in Okengwe will be a source of blessing for the people.
Barely two weeks after confirming that preliminary test carried out on samples from the water well located around Makaranta/Utabo in Okengwe confirmed that the substance discovered as crude oil, Okatahi has released details of further tests carried out.
He stated that results of the full test results carried out at one of the best international laboratories in Nigeria further confirmed his earlier position.
In another video uploaded on Youtube, and sent to Kogi Reports, Okatahi called on the Ohi of Okengwe and leadership of Okengwe Development Association (ODA) to ensure the people speak with one voice.
“The full test result is out and I am so excited. It is confirmed as crude oil.
“Basic Sediment and Water (BSW) is 9.2%. Specific Gravity, the density of crude compared to water, is 0.8611.
“American Petroleum Institute (API), measuring how light the crude oil is 32.82. API of Bonny Light, West African benchmark for crude oil, ranges between 32-34.
“The PH (potential of hydrogen) test is 7.369. Final one, test for salinity is 0.8gl. It means it is not very salty. These are the tests result, and we thank God it is actually crude oil.
“The question remains, is it in commercial quantity? That will be determined by exploration and the appraisals,” he said.
An optimistic Okatahi counseled Ohi of Okengwe and leaders of ODA on the need to foster unity among the people.
“Your Royal Highness, Sir, and the esteemed leadership of ODA, there is need for unity. We all need to speak with one voice. Let’s put the clan, religious sentiments aside. Let’s ensure fairness and justice. Everybody must be seen as a stakeholder. Avoid bloodshed. Show mercy among fellow Anebira. We must show mercy to all and sundry and that brings about blessings upon the land.
“I was told the federal and state governments have sent representatives to Okengwe. This is very good news. Let’s what their results come up with and compare with this and let us make progress.”
