Youths in Okene local government area of Kogi state have resolved to unite and sustain the peace initiative of the current administration.
The youths pledged to unite for peace when they converged at the Okene council secretariat for a meeting with the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Yahaya Bello on Security in charge of the local government, Engr Abdulrazaq Muhammad on Saturday.
Engr. Abdulrazaq had summoned the youths under the umbrella of the defunct Ebira Peace Movement to a security meeting and charged them to channel their strength, ideas and might to sustain the peace of the land and of course continue their usual complimentary role in curbing crime in Okene local government.
Ebira Peace Movement was initiated in 2008 during the political/clannish crisis that engulfed the land. The movement which had major actors in the crisis as members embarked on self-disarmament and within a short period restored peace to the Ebiraland.
Hon. Abdulrazaq assured the youths of his desire to revive the peace movement and incorporate the body in his peace plan for the Council. He tasked the youths to remain united, vigilant and ready to defend the council against criminals.
Hon. Adams King, Comrade Jelil Adabara, Lukman Chatta, Sunday Idoji, Uganda, Dansuki, Big daddy, Danlami, and host of others attended the meeting.
