An appeal has gone to the people of Kogi State to show more patient and understanding, even as the present administration of President Goodluck Jonathan and Capt Idris Wada is committed to fixing the Federal roads that passes through the State.
Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, made the plea following the hardship commuters and motorist faced owing to the gridlock experienced in Okene recently.
Awoniyi, said despite the award of the Lokoja- Okene- Benin road and that of Kabba to Ilorin, with the Ajaokuta – Itobe road already advertised and has gone for procurement, and may likely be captured in next year’s budget, he disclosed that Capt Idris Wada is constantly in touch with the relevant Federal agencies towards ensuring that Federal roads in the State that requires attention are made motor able.
Awoniyi, shared in the pain of commuters and motorists who had to spend man hours on the road following the Okene gridlock, expressed satisfaction to the Federal Road Safety Corps, the Federal Road Maintenance Agency for their intervention, and commended the Federal Government for the on-going repairs on the portion of the failed road that led to the gridlock.
