Okene-Ogori/Magongo: We Are Celebrating Peace, Unity – Damisa

Member, House of Representatives, Hon. Ahmed Tijani Damisa has said that Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency are celebrating unity and peaceful co-existence as a people.

Speaking at thanksgiving prayer held in Okene on Monday to mark the victory recorded by his party APC in the last general election went through memory lane and thanked Gov. Yahaya Adoza Bello, traditional rulers, religious leaders and all APC family for agreeing to work for the party come November 16.

Engr. Abubakar Ohere Sadiku, the leader of political appointees from Kogi Central, who was among dignitaries who graced the thanksgiving prayer, said; “there is a lot of reason to thank God. If you can recall when the state was created, you knew how the state was, but the peace that we witness today is more than enough reason to thank God.

“The peace that we witness in the state today does not just indicate peace alone, but proof that we are united, our traditional rulers are united and they are speaking with one voice. It was not so in 2015, but we thank God for where we are today, you can feel the impact of that unity and peace in the state.

“We have come to realize that we are one people and that we have to work, grow and think together and that whatever development will come to this state has to be one in which it involves everyone and I give God all the Glory.”

In his speech, Senator Yaqub Oseni congratulated the good people of Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency and urged them to continue to support Governor Yahaya Bello administration, assuring that “Governor Yahaya Bello will continue to do the best that can to make our state better.”

He also stated that the Ajaokuta Steel Company would be made fully functional in the next few years and called for support for the companies. He noted that lots of politics have been played in the past concerning the steel company.

The Ozumi of Okene, Alh Haruna in a sermon at the event, called for tolerance among the people.

“To boost our unity, common interests should at all times, supersede personal interest, we should live in peace because, peace makes leaders to concentrate on development,” he said.

He commended the developmental efforts of Governor Bello, observing that the delivery of the New Direction agenda has made it such that the projects and programmes of the governor were campaigning for him ahead of the 2019 governorship elections.
