The leadership of National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Okene Local Government has commended the council Administrator, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad for providing enabling environment for workers.

The Chairman of NULGE, Okene Local Government branch, Comrade Ahmed Tijani gave the commendation during the union’s congress on Wednesday.

The labour leader described Engr. Abdulrazq as a peace loving and workers friendly Council leader who have demonstrated enough capacity to put smile in the faces of workers in the Local Government.

Tijani, during the congress convened to discuss the welfare of her members and update them on issues surrounding the new NFIU guidelines, reports on staff screening, payment of salaries among others, took time to educate workers on modalities and processes involved in the full implementation of the financial guidelines.

He told the congress that government is seriously working to ensure workers have an improved welfare package.

The union chairman assured members that their entitlements will be paid according to the available resources. He enjoined them to shun rumours and avoid spreading unverified information which he said, sometimes hatefully planted in the media to incite workers against the government.

“This is a moment of negotiation and transparency, therefore, we shall engage the government and ensure workers are not shortchanged,” he said.

While pleading to workers to remain patient, the union leader assured them that as soon as the processes are completed, the salaries will be paid.
