Protesters yesterday besieged the Kogi State Government House to register their displeasure over the conduct of Saturday House of Assembly primary election by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

The protesters, who arrived the state capital in over 15 buses from Okene said the exercise was a sham.

Addressing journalists, leader of the group, Abdurasheed Adabara Ovosi, said what happened in Okene 1 constituency was imposition of candidate, and therefore, unacceptable to the people.

Ovosi, who was also an aspirant in the primary election, said what the people wanted a transparent primary election.
He said they were at the Government House to appeal to Governor Idris Wada to look into the matter.  He also called on the party leadership to intervene.

“We are here to register our displeasure over the conduct of the state House of Assembly primary election. There was no election in Okene 1 constituency but the leader merely imposed a candidate on us. We will not accept any imposition and we are telling our party not to fall into the hand of the opposition party,” he said.
