In less than six months in office, Hon. Prince Matthew James Omeiza, the Secretary of Okehi Local Government, has demonstrated remarkable commitment to his constituents by investing millions of naira in party faithful and promising to address pressing community issues.
Yesterday, he marked a significant milestone with the flag-off of the quarterly Community Empowerment Program, tagged “Conditional Credit Cash Transfer,” in Okehi LGA, Kogi State.
During the program, Hon. Prince Matthew James Omeiza empowered over 200 constituents with substantial financial support, reflecting his dedication to uplifting and empowering members of the community.
Speaking at the occasion, Hon. Omeiza explained that the initiative aims to enhance the livelihoods of the people and foster a sense of unity and progress within the local government.
“I am not doing this because I am too rich or my office is too rich, but it is because as a leader, I should be able to share in the problems of our people, hence this empowerment today.”
He assured the people that this is just the beginning and promised to take on another group as soon as he can access funds.
The beneficiaries, representing the 11 council wards in the area, went home with renewed hope in the government of APC under Governor Usman Ododo in Kogi State.
Hon. Omeiza advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money and not see it as a free donation, emphasizing that responsible use of the funds would encourage further support and development for the local government.
“If all of you who have benefited now can put the money into small businesses in your various wards, then you can bring development to your wards because of the multiplier effects,” he declared.
Hon. Omeiza added that his efforts complement those of the Caretaker chairman of Okehi, Hon. Monday Amoka Eneji and state Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo, who are passionate about the plight of the people.
He also promised to address the pressing water issues faced by the Ikaturu Community in Eika-Ohizenyi of Okehi LGA with the support of the LG caretaker chairman and his friends
According to Hon. Omeiza, the program ensured that 10 people per community in Eika-Ohizenyi ward were paid, along with party executives, the Christian community, Muslim community, traditional council, and party stakeholders in the local government. This comprehensive inclusion was part of the Conditional Cash Transfer scheme powered by his office.
Among the distinguished attendees at the event were Hajiya Aishat Oyiza Omade, DG Kogi State Social Investment Programme Agency; Prof. Solomon Avidime, CMD Reference Hospital Okene; Hon. Amoka Eneji Monday, Okehi LGA Chairman; Hon. MKO Adavi, LG Secretary; Hon. Albert Omeiza Kross, Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Relations; Hon. He promised that the recipients would make judicious use of the funds to encourage further support and development from the council.
