Okehi LG Chairman Presents N10.2b 2026 Budget to Legislative Council, Promises Inclusive Growth

The Executive Chairman of Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, Hon. Amoka Eneji Monday, has presented the proposed 2026 budget, titled “Budget of Consolidation and Accelerated Development,” to the Legislative Arm of the Council.

Presenting the budget on Wednesday, Hon. Amoka Eneji Monday emphasized that the proposal is anchored on transparency, accountability, and inclusive development, aimed at improving the welfare of the people of Okehi LGA.

The Council proposes to spend the sum of ten billion, two hundred and third- seven hundred and ninety- Seven thousand, one hundred and Eighty naira (#10,237,797,180) only for 2026 fiscal year.

This is about 10% higher than the sum of Nine Billion, Three Hundred And Fifteen Million, Six Hundred and Forty- One Thousand, Nine Hundred and Ninety Naira (9,315,641,990) only presented as 2026 fiscal year estimate.

“Today marks another milestone in our collective journey to strengthen governance, deepen development, and advance the wellbeing of the good people of Okehi LGA,” he said.

“Consolidation is not a destination; it is a journey. Together, let us take bold steps today so that generations after us will walk on the solid foundation we build.”

The Chairman reaffirmed that the 2026 budget priorities align with the State Government’s Development Agenda, with focus on: Health and Environmental Sustainability, Education and Human Empowerment, Works and Security, Agriculture, Tourism, and Culture

He highlighted notable achievements recorded in 2025, including infrastructure upgrades such as the Remodeling of Okehi LGA Secretariat in Obangede, medical outreach programs, educational support initiatives, sports development, and the promotion of cultural heritage…

Calling for collaboration, Hon. Amoka urged the Legislative Arm to subject the budget to thorough scrutiny to ensure it delivers measurable and people-oriented outcomes.

“This presentation is not just a statutory duty; it is a demonstration of our commitment to building a community where opportunities are expanded and development is felt by all.”

Responding, the Leader of the Legislative House, Rt. Hon. Chegede, expressed confidence in the proposed budget, stating that “this budget reflects the aspirations of our people, and we will give it the thorough consideration it deserves.”

The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Vice Chairman, Hon. Halimat Oyiza Abdulwahab; Honourable Councilors; political appointees led by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Matthew James Omeiza; management and staff of Okehi LGA; party stakeholders; and community leaders.

In his closing remarks, the Chairman expressed deep appreciation to the former State Leader, His Excellency Yahaya Adoza Bello, and the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Ahmed Usman Ododo, for their continuous support to the Okehi LGA administration.

He also commended political leaders from okehi both in the state and local Government, councilors, staff, management, and appointees of the council for their dedication and commitment, reaffirming that the interest of Okehi LGA will always remain the administration’s top priority.
