Executive Chairman of Okehi local government area of Kogi state, Hon. Amoka Eneji Monday, has commended the gallantry, professionalism and resilience of the security operatives and local hunters who risked their lives to ensure the safe rescue of five persons who were kidnapped in the Usungwe community.

Speaking with newsmen on Tuesday, Hon. Amoka said the victims were rescued following sustained and coordinated efforts by security agencies, local vigilantes, and community stakeholders, under the close supervision and support of the Okehi Local Government Council.

“This breakthrough came after days of intensive intelligence gathering and strategic operations.
Regrettably, the rescued victims sustained varying degrees of gunshot injuries, including minors among them. They have since been reunited with their families and are currently receiving medical attention at a public health facility, where they are under close security watch to ensure their safety and full recovery,” he explained.

The Okehi Local Government Council reiterated its commitment to the security of lives and property across the Local Government Area.

“We assure residents that no effort will be spared in strengthening security measures and collaborating with relevant authorities to flush out criminal elements and prevent a recurrence of such unfortunate incidents,” he said.

He urged the public to remain calm, vigilant, and to continue providing timely and useful information to security agencies, as security is a collective responsibility.
