The member representing Ankpa 2 constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Alfa Mommoh Rabiu has said that he was elected a honorable member solely for the people of Ojoku and Enjema adding that his political and other activities are on his number two scheme of events. This he disclosed shortly after his return from a week long retreat in Ghana.
He said leadership is about good conduct and accountability to the people you are serving noting that gone were the days when leadership is all about bank account ratings. Speaking further, he lamented that leadership has suffered set back in the past because the people(electorates) were taken for granted and that youths restiveness among some of the youths is because they are not regularly engaged or given the opportunity to express their predicaments.
While receiving visitors, he said: “I thank God for our safe to and fro transit in the cause of the retreat but I regret not been around to meet with my constituents last weekend, for me; they are the only priority I have in politics and to justify this, I return home every weekend to interact and know their problems and how they are feeling. I don’t believe in wealth accumulation and the days of rating politicians by their financial might is gone.”
“The reason why many youths are useless and prone to violence is that they are not regularly engaged to discuss their problems and difficulties but with regular home coming, some of this youths have been engaged and enrolled for handwork. As I speak, it has curbed laziness and drugs indices when compared to previous ratings. So, I call on government at all level to create and monitor youth/women empowerment schemes in order to ameliorate crime and unemployment from the society.”
He thereafter appreciated his colleagues and other functionaries who were part of the trip for their good conduct and efforts that enabled them been good ambassadors of Kogi State and Nigeria at large throughout the period of their stay.
