OGP: Co-Chair Commends Ododo’s Leadership Style, Reaffirms Commitment to State Action Plan

Co-Chairman, Kogi State Open Government Partnership (OGP) Co-creation Platform, Amb. Idris Ozovehe Muraina, has reaffirmed the commitment of members of the platform to the diligent implementation of the State Action Plan (SAP).

In a statement on Tuesday, Amb. Muraina commended the leadership style of Governor Usman Ododo, and applauded him for the approval of Kogi State OGP State Action Plan (SAP) which underscores the Governor’s commitment to transparency and accountability in governance.

Amb. Muraina, who is the Executive Director of RECEF and Chairperson Kogi NGOs Network (KONGONET), explained that the Open Government Partnership (OGP) is a multilateral and multinational initiative that seeks to create collaboration between government and civil society.

He added that the OGP is a broad partnership that includes members at the national and local level and thousands of civil society organizations working together to create and implement reforms aimed at improving public service delivery and governance in general.

“During the State Executive Council meeting held on November 20th, 2024, Governor Ododo approved the Kogi State Open Government Partnership State Action Plan (SAP) for the period of 2024-2026. This momentous decision not only reflects his unwavering dedication to the principles of open governance but also signifies a significant step forward in fostering civic engagement and empowering citizens.

“The SAP outlines a comprehensive framework for enhancing transparency, encouraging public participation, and promoting accountability within government operations. By ensuring that these costed activities are incorporated into the 2025 approved State annual budget, Governor Ododo demonstrates a forward-thinking approach that prioritizes the needs and aspirations of the people of Kogi State.

“On behalf of the OGP Co-creation Platform, co-chaired by myself, Amb. Idris Ozovehe Muraina, and Hon. Asiwaju Asiru Idris (FCA), Commissioner of Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning, we reaffirm our commitment to the diligent implementation of the SAP. We are confident that, under your Excellency’s guidance and with the cooperation of all relevant ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), we will achieve the goals outlined in this crucial plan,” he assured.

Amb. Muraina commended the Governor on the groundbreaking accomplishment, noting that the remarkable achievement is a testament to Ododo’s leadership style, one that is inclusive, responsive, and dedicated to the welfare of the citizens.

“It is a proud moment for all Kogites, and we look forward to the positive impact this initiative will have on our communities.
