The annual Ovia Osese festival in Ogori, Kogi State is to hold on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Civic Centre, Ogori.
According to a statement issued and signed by the National Secretary of Ogori Descendants’ Union (ODU), Mr. James Oyewole, the event would commence at 10.00am.
This year’s event, the statement added, is to be chaired by Professor Z.O Apata, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Kogi State University, Anyigba, while Mrs. Tony Alabi would be the lady chairperson.
The statement, added that the State Governor, Captain Idris Wada would be the Chief Guest of Honour while the commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Barrister Kayode Olowomoran, would be one of the guests of honour.
It further explained that the event would be preceded by other events, including an international symposium by the League of Ogori Professors, which would hold on Friday, 17th April at the Auditorium of the Ogori Community Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).
This would be the second in the series of such international symposia, which is being supported by some renowned research institutes across the globe. Expectedly, scholars across the globe would be attending the event.
Other event slated to hold prior to the event, include, sporting activities, talent hunt, cooking competition, beauty pageant, camp fire and some educational events.
Mr. Oyewole in the statement, said given the political situation in the country, the activities this year, would be low key but according to him, all events are open to members of the public.
