The Ogidi community is set to celebrate a major milestone – the golden jubilee anniversary of former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, while also expressing gratitude to current Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for his significant contributions to the community’s development.
According to a statement issued by a community leader, Alhaji Shuaibu Ipinmisho, this year’s Ogidi Day Festival of Unity scheduled for Saturday, June 21, 2025, will honour Governor Bello’s achievements and acknowledge Governor Ododo’s strategic support.
The community will come together to recognize Governor Bello’s remarkable contributions, including the Rapid Elevation of the Ologidi Stool: Elevating the Ologidi stool to Second Class in 2018 and First Class status in 2023.
“Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration has indeed shown commitment to developing Ogidi and Kogi State as a whole. Some notable achievements includes the strategic appointments of Ogidi citizens to key positions, ensuring that local talent is utilized for the betterment of the community.
“Also, the takeover of the Ogidi Cottage Hospital to a government facility, thereby improving healthcare services for residents/ Approving the reconstruction of the Ogidi-Ayere-Ajowa road, enhancing connectivity and improving the quality of life of the people, tackling banditry in Kogi West, ensuring a safer environment for citizens,” he said.
Alhaji Ipinmisho added that Governor Ododo has boosted school enrollment and providing support for students, including bursaries and scholarships; implementing the Kogi Youth Empowerment and Skill Acquisition Programme (KOYESA) to equip young people with practical skills and ensured prompt salary payments and providing support for vulnerable members of society.
“These achievements demonstrate Governor Ododo’s commitment to building on the legacy of his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, and driving development in Kogi State. His administration’s focus on good governance, transparency, and accountability is also noteworthy.
“The Ogidi community is eagerly anticipating this grand celebration, which promises to be an unforgettable experience. With its rich cultural heritage and strong community spirit, the Ogidi Day Festival of Unity is set to be a spectacular event that will leave a lasting impression on all attendees,” he added.
