Senator Ahmed Ogembe representing Kogi central senatorial district in the 8th senate has expressed his gratitude and appreciation to his constituents for giving him the opportunity to represent them promising to always stand by them.
In a valedictory message personally signed by him, he thanked them for the rare opportunity given to him to represent them at the national level saying it afforded him a great opportunity to meet people from diverse culture and backgrounds.
“It’s a lifetime honour that no one get in isolation, you need God and the people. So, I will forever be grateful to God and my people. Haven said that, I would like to say a special thank you to all Ebira sons and daughters working in the national assembly beginning from the Clark of the national assembly Mohammed Ataba Sanni Omolori (the ciroma of Ebira land). I have enoumous respect for these people and their support for me were tremendous.
“It’s good to admit that our people faced certain obvious challenging situations while I served as their Senator but I must state that I did all I could to consistently follow my conscience in all I did; both through legislation and direct impact to ameliorate sufferings of our people,” the statement reads.
While it is natural that I may not have satisfied everyone, I have always loved to be seen as a man who stayed through to his principles. But again, I am happy and full of gratitude to God and to you for the opportunity to represent you as a Senator in the 8th senate.
The Senator expressed the feeling and pride of gratitude for the wonderful support he enjoyed. He further thanked the leaders of his party, traditional rulers, religious leaders, women and youths, non indigenes who reside in Kogi central for their support and participation which he said made his desire for all inclusive representation an easy task.
He extended his appreciation to critics whom he described as a necessary tonic which kept him on his toes.
“Though some of those criticisms were baseless or mischievous but others were corrective and I did took corrections and adjusted where necessary because I am human and not immune to mistakes.
“To those who used power and position to suppress our efforts to empower our people, let it be known to you that though we may have very different points of view perhaps because we belong to different political parties but we must not forget that the interest of the people of Kogi central senatorial district is bigger than that of any of us. We should at all times be guided by this understanding in our quest to either remain in power or secure one,” Ogembe said.
He thanked his staff and aides for their immense contributions in ensuring a successful successful tenure. “You endure all the travels and many other challenging tasks just to ensure that success is at it peak and I can be bold to say I was not disappointed the statement partly reads.”
He urge his teaming supporters to remain steadfast as nothing is over yet . Saying he will always stand for them in any situation that deserves his attention and within his ability.
He expressed profound gratitude to his wife noting that whatever he might have achieved would not have been possible without her support and that of the entire family.
“They gave me strength and immeasurable courage to move on. I count my self very lucky for this I do not take it for granted,” the Senator added.
