The people of Ogale in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State expressed their appreciation to the World Bank, Federal Government of Nigeria, Kogi State Government and the National Fadama Coordination Office and its counterpart in the state for having a positive impact on their lives.
This was made known recently during the harvest of their cassava tubers from the farms established under the Fadama III Project- Additional Financing.
The Ologale of Ogale, HRH MKO Otitoju who could not hide his emotions, was full of encomium for implementation of the cassava project in his domain. He said it was indeed a dream come true as he had looked forward to a day like this.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Ogale Production Cluster, Mr. Vincent Adeshina, who spoke on behalf of his members, appreciated the implementers for their support.
He stated that while they had been into cassava production before, they had not gone into large scale farming of one farmer per hectare. Adeshina noted that their capacities had been built to see farming as a business and trainings on best agronomic practices given to them on how to achieve the best results.
Earlier in his remarks, the representative of the National Project Coordinator of the Fadama III Project- Additional Financing, Mr. Peter Ajibaiye, who led a team to witness the harvest, admonished them to always heed to what they have been taught to always ensure a good harvest.
Mr. Ajibaiye noted that the Project Development Objective is to ramp up production, hence farmers have been linked up with Off-takers to avoid a glut in cassava production.
