The Okun Development Association (ODA) has acknowledged the recent assurance by the Kogi state government to take decisive steps against security threats in the state.

This pronouncement, ODA said, was not only reassuring but also demonstrates the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens.

In a statement signed by Dayo Thomas, the National Publicity Secretary, the association noted that the current security situation in Okunland, marked by the scourge of kidnappings and other nefarious criminal activities, has undoubtedly caused undue hardship and fear among the people.

“Innocent citizens have been forced to live in constant fear, unable to go about their daily lives without apprehension.

“ODA recognizes that a secure environment is a sine qua non for the socio-economic development of our region. It is imperative that we create an atmosphere where our citizens can live, work, and thrive without fear for their safety.

“In light of this, ODA commends the government’s pledge to address these security challenges and calls on the authorities to translate these words into tangible actions,” the statement read.

ODA urged the government to work diligently to restore peace and security, ensuring that Okun people can live and work without fear.

As a key stakeholder in the development of Okunland, ODA reiterated its unwavering commitment to partnering with the government in the pursuit of safety and security for the people.

“The time for rhetoric is over; it’s time for concrete actions that will bring relief to our people and restore the peace and security that our region deserves.

“We firmly believe that collective efforts are essential in tackling the security challenges facing our region and in promoting the well-being of our citizens. Okunland is not a lawless territory, and we will continue to work with the government to ensure that our region remains a place where citizens can live in peace and prosperity.

We look forward to seeing concrete actions that will bring relief to our people and restore the peace and security that our region deserves. ODA is confident that, together, we can build a safer and more prosperous Okunland for all,” the statement added.
