Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has commiserated with Okun people of the state over the demise of the Obaro of Kabba, HRM Oba Dr. Michael Olobayo, OON (JP).
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Kingsley Fanwo, Bello described the departed royal father as a hero who’s sterling contributions to the socio-economic development of the state and especially, his reign of peace and pragmatic leadership endeared him to the people.
He described the Late Oba as an invaluable light of the government, adding that, the shoes he left behind will be too large for anyone to wear.
The Governor called on the people of Kabba to remain calm and ensure that the peace the departed Royal Father died for is not harassed by his departure, pledging the support of the State Government to the people at this critical stage of their cultural history.
He said the present generation of Kogi people must learn from the leadership qualities of the late Oba as a selfless, patriotic, detribalized and industrious royal father who will be remembered for uniting his people during critical periods.
He prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed and for the Kabba, Okun, Kogi and Nigerians to garner the fortitude to bear the great loss.
Oba Michael Olobayo, was a civil servant before he was called to ascended the throne on Oct. 17, 1985, hailed from Ajibohokun clan of llajo ruling house and was the Chairman of the Okun traditional council.
