Obaro of Iyamoye’s Burial Rites Begins February 5

The Iyamoye Community, on behalf of the royal family, the Council of Chiefs, sons and daughters of Iyamoye at home and in the diaspora, have formally announced series of burial activities of His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Ibrahim Ade Momoh (The Amuwajoye I), the Obaro of Iyamoye, who joined his ancestors on 9th November 2025, after a fulfilled life of service to humanity, peace, and community development.

A statement signed by the secretary, burial committee, Mr Joel Olorunmaiye, noted that late HRM Alh. Ibrahim Ade Momoh was a father to all, a bridge-builder, and a symbol of unity whose reign was marked by wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to the progress of Iyamoye Kingdom.

“His leadership strengthened traditional institutions, promoted peaceful coexistence, and inspired generations through his generosity, compassion, and dedication to the welfare of his people,” Olorunmaiye said.

In honour of his remarkable life and legacy, series of burial arrangements and commemorative activities have been scheduled to accord him a befitting royal farewell.

“The Iyamoye Community respectfully invites the general public, Traditional Rulers, Government Officials, Religious Leaders, and well wishers of Iyamoye Kingdom to join in paying final respects to our departed Monarch and to celebrate a life that exemplified service, dignity, and enduring leadership.

“May the Almighty Allah (SWT) grant the soul of our late royal father Al-Jannatul Firdaus and grant the family, the Iyamoye Kingdom, ijumu traditional council and entire Kogi State Traditional Council the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”

Traditional Rite will hold on Thursday, February, 5, 2027 at the Obaro Palace by 10.00AM. Muslim Fidau Prayer and Christian Prayer holds on Friday, February 6, 2027 at Model Primary School Football Field by 9.00AM and 3.00PM respectively.

This will be followed by a grand reception at Model Primary School Football Field, Iyamoye.
