Worried by the carnage on the Benin-Okene-Lokoja-Abuja highway, Oba Erediauwa of Benin Kingdom has appealed to the former Army Chief of Staff, General Theophilus Danjuma (rtd), to use his position to prevail on the relevant authorities to urgently fix the road.

Oba Erediauwa, who made the appeal, yesterday, in Benin while receiving Danjuma, who led the Board of Directors of TY Danjuma Foundation to his palace on a courtesy visit, said he had read of the deplorable condition of the road. He wondered what the contractors rehabilitating the road were doing.

The monarch said: “I want to ask you about the Benin-Okene-Lokoja-Abuja road. What are the contractors handling the road doing? I heard of so many accidents on that road. Use your General’s power to do something about the road.”

The Oba commended the foundation for impacting entrepre-neurial skills on students of University of Benin and donating computers to his former school, Edo College, Benin.

Earlier, General Dajuma had told the Oba that he was at the palace with members of the foundation’s board for his blessings.

While briefing the Oba on the activities of the foundation, Executive Director/Chief Executive of the TY Danjuma Foundation, Miss Thelma Ekiyor said the founda-tion had been involved in the execution of projects in the health and educa-tion sectors in the state.

She listed some of the projects to include free eye treatment and other medical services, stu-dents’ self-employment and entrepreneurial skills in secondary schools and other higher institutions of learning.
