NUP Urge Retirees to Embrace Kogi Pension Commission’s Biometric Data Capturing

Kogi state chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Engr. Clement Ohida, has called on retirees in the state to embrace and actively participate in verification exercise scheduled to commence on July 15.

The call was in reaction to the announcement by Kogi State Pension Commission to begin pensioners verification exercise on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

The announcement tagged, ”I am Alive” is targeted towards ascertaining all eligible pensioners on the payroll of state are captured.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen in Lokoja ahead of the exercise, Kogi State chairman of NUP, Engr. Ohida, explained that the verification exercise to be carried out by the state government is designed in a seamless way, considering the age and health condition of pensioners.

According to him, retirees are expected to visit any bank closest to them with their bank verification number (BVN). added that it is not compulsory to visit bank or travel from their locations within the state.

Engr. Ohida, who said the exercise is for pensioner’s benefit, stated that no money should be paid to anybody during the exercise as it is only meant for bio-metric data capturing.

He said the commission will provide an email portal to enable Pensioners to send in their traveling documents, data page, visa page stamped, arrival, phone numbers, location, address for pensioners that are presently out of the country.
