Right from time immemorial, and from generation to generation, God Almighty has continue to show that He alone can exclusively determine the faith of everyone and have unique ways of bringing His unmerited divine assistance on any of His servant even when the beneficiary had least expected it. Just as it was posited by a renowned author, Chinua Achebe in his award winning novel “Things Fall Apart” some persons were actually lucky to have their kernel cracked by a benevolent spirit. Though, the benevolent spirit cracked kernel of choice at different times.
The above reference was the obvious manifestation of divine grace and demonstration of unquestionable influence by God Almighty in the life of my brother, friend and long-time political associates of my father, Hon. Ahmed Nuhu Enesi, the former Caretaker Chairman of Okene local government and chairmanship candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) in the forth coming local government election slated for October 19, 2024.
Hon. Ahmed Nuhu Enesi, a humble fellow, grassroots politician and pragmatic mobilizer has been part and parcel of the political and socio-economic development of Okene local government and indeed Ebira land for the past two decades. I got to meet him for the first time in 2004 then as secretary of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) alongside some other eminent personalities in the local government party executives.
As the party scribe, Nuhu shows exceptional courage in the face of daunting challenges and meticulously guided the party and followers of late A.T Ahmed in taking major decisions that eventually enhanced their electoral fortunes in 2007. Hon. Nuhu was adjuged to be intelligent, smart, loyal, humble and highly resourceful, hence, reasons he always command respect and patronage in the political arena. He’s articulate and possess special capabilities to connect with the grassroots.
In spite of his commitment, loyalty and sacrifices for his political party, Nuhu barely got the deserving recognition, reward or opportunity in government. His attempt to secure councilor seat to represent Onyukoko ward in the 2009 local government election failed due to the political dynamics at the time.
However, Nuhu was never deterred but remain hopeful and continue to push his believe in the ideology of socio-economic and political development of the land through good and effective governance. He was part of All Progressive Congress success story in 2015 general election and the eventual coming on board of Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello as the Executive Governor of Kogi State.
In 2018 and of course by divine Providence, Hon. Ahmed Nuhu was appointed the Special Adviser on Security Matters to the former Okene local government council chairman, Hon. Abdulrazaq Muhammad and myself the Special Adviser on Media & Publicity. As we worked together in the council, we quickly leverage on our existing personal and political relationship to form synergy that enhanced our individual and collective performances in office.
Hon. Nuhu Ahmed’s outstanding performance in area of security and intelligence gathering earned him high rating and commendations especially from those who understand the working of security. But little did we all know he was being positioned as the next chairman of the council by divine arrangement and that the benevolent spirit has decided to crack his kernel. Eventually, in January 2024, Hon. Ahmed Nuhu Enesi was appointed as the Caretaker Chairman of Okene Local Government. His appointment was greeted with cheers from all and sundry.
After spending 8months in acting capacity, he secured the mandate of All Progressive Congress (APC) members in Okene local government as their chairmanship standard-bearer for the October 19, local government election in Kogi state.
As the people of Okene local government anxiously wait to elect Ahmed Nuhu Enesi as the next executive chairman of the council, and gladly too, this show of benevolence on him by the divine spirit further ignites the level of humility in him.
