“God that decided to bring Yahaya Bello the way we do not understand will take him away the way we will not understand”
For the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 16 governorship election in Kogi State, Hon Samuel Bamidele Aro, the election will not be between the two leading political parties in the state, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as widely expected.
Aro who spoke while receiving indigenes of Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Council under the aegis of League of Yagba West Professionals Living in Abuja in his Asokoro, Abuja, residence said the upcoming election will be a battle between God, the people of Kogi State and Governor Yahaya Bello.
Aro, who said the state under the Bello-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government was in abnormal situation where everyone is confused without any sign of remedy in sight, went spiritual when he said: “God that decided to bring Yahaya Bello the way we do not understand will take him away the way we will not understand”
According to the PDP governorship running mate, “Kogi is in an abnormal situation, everybody is confused, even if you understand what the problem is you find difficult to mention it. There is palpable fear, people are afraid; they can no longer express themselves. That is the type of society we suddenly found ourselves in Kogi state under Yahaya Bello. But I want to tell you; fear not. God directs whatever we are doing. The Lord is in the driver’s seat.
“We are preparing to vote, they are planning how to use force and unorthodox means including violence, in desperate bid to retain power having been rejected by the people, but I tell you that if God is on the throne and the will of the people shall prevail on the 16th of November. The APC government is an affliction and our people must be liberated. God decided to allow what is happening for us to know that He is God. People are slumping, people are dying, committing suicide on daily basis, therefore the rest of us who are still lucky to be alive, we are running to God, we call his name for help and I assure you that God will once again prove himself.
“I do not only need your votes and support, by going home to mobilize our people to cast their votes without fear and to defend their votes, I need us to join hands together for prayers. Remember that God specifically said we should come to Him in the days of trouble, we are in the days of trouble so, let us pray to God so that God will answer our prayers.
“This battle is not of Engr. Musa Wada and Sam Aro, but a battle of the Lord’s. I like to point out that this is not an election between the PDP and the APC. This is an election between God, impoverished Kogi State people, state civil servants, local government workers who are not being paid their salaries, pensioners who can no longer afford their drugs, students whose parents can no longer afford to pay their school fees, families of deceased workers who, frustrated, decided to take their own lives, and Yahaya Bello. And since it is a battle of God’s, the people and one man who decided to constitute himself into a tyranny, I am confident that come November 16, 2019 we are going to give thanks to God.”
He continued, “We are not just going to give thanks to God, we will go a step forward and together we shall reposition the state, allow freedom of speech and I assure you that we will not disappoint you. Yes, I am a running mate I will not be a spare tyre. I will not be a deputy governor in a government where the welfare of the people will not be taken care of. I will not be part of the system where people are not paid their salaries as and when due. I will not be part of the system where our roads will be impassable. Even if we cannot tar all the roads, we should make them passable. We’ve done it in time past and we are going to do it again. I will not be a part of a government in which children of school age will not have access to qualitative education or deprived of their tomorrow.
“I want to appeal to you that when you vote make sure that you defend your votes. Do not fight anyone. We want peaceful election. We are appealing to INEC and we hope that security agencies will also be alive to their constitutional roles of conducting a free, fair, transparent and a peaceful election.
“But if some people decide to turn the law upside down unchecked, they are not the only one who have the monopoly of turning the law upside down, we will turn it down with them, we will go after them. People who go to the ballot with guns are not strong people. When they come with their guns and shoot into the air, do not be scared. They did not create life, they cannot take life. If they shoot at anybody we know them and their family houses.
“Let us have confidence in our security agents that they will do their job of securing life and property and the ballot boxes during the election. I have no doubt that in a peaceful election the PDP will celebrate victory. Kogi people will celebrate God.”
