Staff of Lokoja Local Government Area have endorsed the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 11 gubernatorial election in Kogi State, Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman.
A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Assembly Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed, stated that this is sequel to a meeting held by the staffs with the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Aliyu Umar Yusuf in Lokoja on Wednesday.
Speaking at the event, the Director of Local Government (DLG) for Lokoja Local Government Area, Alhaji Aliyu Musa Omuwa said the decision to endorse Alhaji Ododo was borne out of their conviction that the APC candidate is their best bet.
According to Alhaji Omuwa, of all the candidates standing for the election in November, Alhaji Ododo understands the problems of Local Government and knows how to fix them, hence the decision to throw their weight behind him.
The DLG used the opportunity to appeal to other well meaning citizens of the state to queue behind their decision and work for the victory of the ruling APC as signs have shown that there is light for workers in that sector when Ododo wins the election.
In their separate addresses, the Treasurer and the Education Secretary for the Local Government, also added their voices and restated their commitment towards ensuring victory for the APC.
Other speakers, including the Lokoja Local Government Chairman of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Bala Ibrahim also stressed that the union has a special commitment to the APC and Ododo cause to ensure overwhelming victory for the party in November.
He therefore called on the staff of the Local Government to work on their votes canvassing and ensuring that the result of the election was in the favour of the ruling party without a single doubt.
Other staffs who spoke at the event, applauded the emergence of Rt Hon Aliyu as the speaker, noting that it played a key role in their decision to support Ododo.
Responding, the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf thanked the staff for their confidence in the APC and for trusting his words, saying there is a lot more they would benefit by backing the ruling party.
