Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Kogi State Council has exonerated the state government of allegation of non-payment of salaries to its workers as widely insinuated.
Comrade James Odaudu, state Chairman of NLC made the disclosure in Lokoja while exchanging views with journalists.
Odaudu said that the allegation of non-payment of salaries was not true as the state Governor Capt. Idris Wada had paid workers’ salaries as well as other entitlements up to date.
The NLC Chairman said that despite the dwindling resources, Kogi State had been committed to payment of minimum wage to its workers.
Comrade Odaudu commended Governor Wada for assisting the organised labour to procure laptops for workers.
He hailed the government for the ten percent support in payment of the joint housing project between the Union and a consulting firm, City Point in order to ensure affordable houses for workers in the state.
On the shortfall in Local Government payment of salaries, the labour leader blamed the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) and other affiliate unions at the local governments on their alleged double standard.
