The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in collaboration with the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), has concluded plans to hold town-hall meeting, aimed at resolving customer complaints in Kogi.

The Kogi State Director of NOA, Mr Abdulganiyu Dare, disclosed this while addressing newsmen during a Road-show on Wednesday in Lokoja.

Dare said that the roadshow was to create public awareness on the upcoming three-day town hall meeting scheduled for Sept. 12 to 14, at Edge Drive Hotel, GRA, Lokoja.

The state director stressed that the roadshow was to also mobilise the people of Kogi to attend the meeting, stressing that it would be an avenue for the people to be heard.

Dare, who was represented by Assist. Director, Head of Program, NOA, Pastor Ogbonnikan Augustine Mayowa, said the electricity consumers would be enlightened on their rights and obligations at the meeting.

“As we all know that creation of awareness is one of the key mandates of NOA, that is why we gathered this morning for the roadshow.

“We are out to create public awareness on the upcoming town hall meeting to address the complaints of electricity consumers with a view to resolving them.

“The objective of the meeting is to create awareness about the rights and obligations of electricity consumers, and facilitate an interactive session on matters arising.

“To conduct on-the-spot resolution of conflicts and complaints from electricity consumers within the purview of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).

“The NERC has given us all assurance that all issues will be resolved in the course of the meeting.

“Since NOA cannot handle this alone, that is why we extended invitations to NAN, NTA and FRCN and other media organisations in Kogi to ensure adequate publicity so that the people will be duly informed.

“We want the people to take this rare advantage to lodge their complaints and they will be resolved,”Dare said.

He, therefore urged the people to turn out in their large numbers to attend the meeting to lodge their complaints, assuring that they would be resolved.

Also speaking, the Representative of NERC, Mr Ishaya Bassey, reiterated that the meeting would focus on customers rights and obligations, issues of metering, estimated billings, among others.

“We will listen to all their complaints and we assure them of resolution,” he said.

The roadshow took off from State Secretariat to Zone-Eight round about, to Army Signal, Ganaja junction Adankolo, Paparanda, CINEMA Junction, Kogi Cycle, and terminated at FEN Junction.

“Tracts and fliers were distributed to the people, while jingles of three major languages in Kogi were played to invite the people for the meeting.
